Oh c’mon, NPR

I love NPR. I listen every day. I’m listening to KUOW as I write this. I pull down half a dozen NPR supported podcasts every week on top of just listening to it.

That said, I tend to not be fond of the music coverage on it. I’ll be psyched to eat my words when STOD ends up on NPR, but as we’re not an eastern european klezmer-funk pop sensation, I won’t hold my breath.

So I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that the ’5 artists you should have known in 2010′ article sent me into a minor rage. Probably it shouldn’t, but there you go. Listening to these all in a row, the bias of NPR music reviews come into sharp focus. Vaguely worldly, sad, introspective, fey, all things that apply. Further evidence that modern music has lost all sharpness, strength, and, not to put to fine a point on it, balls.

Sigh.
