So one of my favorite Zappa songs (love the Frank) is 'Punky's Whips' off the classic Baby Snakes, Live. For you musical heathens, the song tells the story of a young boy who has, despite his protestations of not being gay, become infatuated with a photograph of a sexually ambigous male rock star. The rock star is described in such loving detail that it used to amaze me that the Zappa crew spent so much time making him up. Turns out they didn't. When you see this picture of Punky Meadows you too will be amazed that he's not the figment of somebody's imagination.

Oh, and what the hell is with the army? This is their response to accidentally blowing up 4 Canadiens. In short, it says that the pilots had impaired judgement since they were on amphetamenes which the army hands out as a 'Fatigue Management Tool'
Mind you, this is not even a month after Bush's drug adviser Robt Maginnis threatened closing the border with Canada becuase they're talking about legalizing Marijuana. Jesus, the irony is so thick you'd need a chainsaw to cut it.
In effect, we're saying "Hey, don't you go legalizing Marijuana, because we've already proven it causes people to act like they're really relaxed and like Jethro Tull, among other chronic illnesses, but shut up about us blowing up your citizens as part of a program of using proven psychosis inducing drugs on the guys we hire to be in charge of some of the most dangerous weapons on earth.."
In what fucking twisted reality does that make sense? I guess I'm just going to have to go an a strict "reality management" program involving pot, lsd, and some toads to lick. Hey, it's all in the service of a greater good.

Okay, the holidays kind of killed my blogging instinct.....

Uh, the great thing about them was the snowstorm. Really ruled. Also, seem to be hearing from a lot of people I haven't heard from in years. Time of the year, I guess.
I guess the real big news is that I'm changing jobs, sort of. I'm keeping 20 hours a week at my current job and going to work for The Fund for the City of New York. It's pretty exciting, mostly because I'll be teaching classes. It means a little more work overall in the short term, but I really like these people and what they do, and working there is really going to broaden my horizons.
And I guess to keep to my general theme of how much I love the strange and wonderful internet, here's a great list of The Ten Best College Hoaxes of All Time. I so want to do the statue of liberty thing in Concord NH.

Life, you never know when it's going to poke you. hard.
