Agh! The internet burns!
Cory Doctrow pretty much has my dream life. He's a pro spokesperson/rabble rouser for
the EFF, a great sci-fi writer, and one of the principles of the magnificent
BoingBoing. If you're like me, you'll go through these stages with his book
Eastern Standard Tribe. Download, Read, Be Amazed, Feel Guilty It's Free, Buy.
On top of all this, he's just put up his speech to Microsoft on why
DRM is stupid and will never work. Of course he's much more eloquent about it. He also goes through amusing lengths to keep to the Cryptogrophy practice of naming your example people after the first letters of the alphabet. Alice, Bob, Carol, etc. Anyway, read it.
I have to say, it's a goddam good think he's not also in a
killer band and married to the
coolest girl in the world. Because then I'd have to kill him and eat his heart.
Oh yeah. I also got comments working and took those pictures on the right.
So there.
So it happened again where I felt like I had so much to say that I kept putting off posting. Can bloggers have performance anxiety? I do. Let's see. Went on vacation to the Florida Keys. It was magnificent. I'll put the pics up this weekend. Took another week off (or I would lose it) and stayed in NY. Mostly used it to practice guitar and play user-designed modules in
Neverwinter Nights. Got the
Xs for Eyes website functional, though not updated, after our hostname disaster. Considered finishing my new blog template, but obviously I didn't. Then came back to work. Then half my department got fired. But I didn't.
Jeez, it's been weird.
Going to see
Kickstart at Luna tonight for
the Anabolics record release party. I'm really happy for them, but annoyed with myself that we didn't get our record done and they recorded after us and put it out before we even have mixes. Well, that's what I get for doing this all on the cheap. When you talk your friends into doing things as a favor, you can't really bust their balls about timelines.
I'll be posting here as well as the band site as we get lineups confirmed for our residency next month. This is a really cool thing, but needless to say, playing every Tuesday for a month is going to be very tiring. No rest for terminally lazy.....
