One of those internet moments....
I do believe that Metafilter comments may be said to have peaked
right here at this one in a thread about shaving. This may be NSFW because people in the office looked at me funny when I snorted like a warthog.
The lovely and strange music of the Residents is soothing me tonight as I do things to my PSP that nature, and Sony, never intended.
It's been a strange week of deaths. I try to imagine Bass Wolf and Robert Creeley trying to explain to the pope why Mitch Hedberg is funny. But I'm sure they're just gone and we're here.
Thinking about Robert Creeley this week, I pulled out my old, much-bookmarked copy of his volume of selected works. I bought it after seeing him read in college. I bookmarked this one a long time ago, and it's kind of over-poetic in a classical way. But like all his stuff, still resonates with me. I reproduce it here in tribute.
The WarningFor love--I would
split open your head and put
a candle in
behind the eyes.
Love is dead in us
if we forget
the virtues of an amulet
and quick suprise.
